Tips for a healthy, long lasting tan!

Moisture is the key to a long lasting tan! Tanning dries out the skin.Plenty of water and lotion will keep skin moist. Healthy skin tans faster and lasts longer!

1

USE LOTION! Without using lotion it takes up to 6 mnutes for your skin to start the tanning process. Tyrosine is an ingredient in tanning lotions that kick starts the production of melanin in ONE minute! It is important to use lotion that provides essential moisture and nutirients for your skin, The benefits are amazing!

Lotion roation is key to building a deep, dark tan as well as breaking through plateaus!

Don't shower right after tanning. Your skin is still tanning hours after your tanning bed session ends. Allow your tan to set in and wait at least two hours especially if you are using a bronzing lotion which can work for up to four hours after application. Let your tan set in and your skin will take on a depper richer glow. When you do shower, ALWAYS use a moisturizer after!

3

DRINK WATER! When skin dries out it flakes causing it to shed sooner rather than later. To ensure cells stay hydrated, you need to feed them from the inside as well as the outside.

4

When waxing or shaving make sure to do so 24 hours before a tanning session! Waxing and shaving both remove dead skin along with your tan!

5

6

EXFOLIATE! This applies to both UV free tanning and tanning beds as well. Before a tanning session you want to lift all those dead skin cells and  remove all oils and fragrances to expose the top layer of skin revealing revitalised ready to tan skin beneath!

7

Slow and Steady wins the race! Do not come in a few days before a big trip trying to achieve a dark deep tan. This is simply not enough time you will end up burning your skin trying to overcompensate your booth time.

8

Switch beds Frequently! UVB rays produce melanin cells, where UVA bronzes your skin. Change up the beds you use to maintain a nice healthy color!

Eat your way to tan! Eating lots of fruits and veggies that are yellow or orange in color such as carrots, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, canteloupe or apricots can give you a natural tan!

INTENSIFIERS/MAXIMISERS -Intensifiers

and Maximisers are the basic indoor tanning lotions.  They are engineered to maximize UV-stimulated melanin results, which is what produces a tan.  Intensifiers are offered at many price points determined primarily by the types and amounts of ingredients in the lotions.  These lotions generally have no bronzers.

To help clarify what you need, some lotion manufacturers such as

California Tan have a (3) Step Process to make the selection a little easier. These lotions should be used daily by both Step 1 & 2 tanners to moisturize, enhance, and prolong your tanning results.

STEP 1-BASE TAN BUILDERS

These first step lotions are used to build a "base tan" and are used until the tanner feels he/she is not getting any additional color or has reached a "tanning plateau".

STEP 2-DARK TAN BOOSTERS

These lotions are intended to be used once you have established a base tan, and are interested in developing a deeper, darker color. Select products incorporate bronzers, tingle, and cooling ingredients.

STEP 3-DARK TAN EXTENDERS
